Privacy Policy

No account, no sign-up

You never create an account, give an email address, or set a password to play. Picking a name and an avatar colour is enough. Everything below follows from that: there’s no login to protect and no password to leak.

Stored in your browser

These are saved with your browser’s local storage, never sent anywhere except where a section below says so. They’re what let the game recognise you again without an account:

• A random player ID, plus the name and avatar colour you chose.
• A code that lets you rejoin a room you’re already in if your connection drops.
• Preferences: light/dark theme, language, sound on/off, solo-game settings, muted/hidden chat, and your cookie choice below.

None of this needs your consent to store — it’s what makes the game work, the same category as a “remember my settings” cookie.

Cookies and analytics

We ask before any analytics cookie is set. Google Analytics only starts collecting data after you accept the banner shown on your first visit (technically: it starts in a “denied” state and only switches to “granted” on your Accept click) — it never runs at all if you decline. When active, it sees things like which pages you visited, your device/browser type, and an approximate location; not your name or anything you typed in the game.

Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights (page-view counts and loading-speed metrics) always run — they’re cookieless and only ever report aggregated numbers, never anything tied to you individually.

Stored on our servers

Joining a room or playing solo creates an anonymous session — still no email or password. Beyond that:

• Your profile: display name, avatar colour, an approximate country (our hosting provider reads this from your connection — we never see or store your actual IP address), and when the profile was created/last seen.
• Room and game data: the room, your seat, dice rolls and scores for that match — deleted once the room is cleaned up.
• Leaderboard entries: display name, score, and approximate country, kept to show rankings.
• Chat: only fixed emoji/preset phrases — never free-text messages — tied to a room and removed when it is.

Why we process this

Everything under “Stored on our servers” above is processed because it’s what makes a multiplayer game function — there’s no way to show your seat, score, or the leaderboard without it. Analytics is the one exception: it only runs with your consent, given (or refused) through the cookie banner.

How long we keep it

Room and match data is removed once a room is cleaned up (inactive rooms don’t stick around). Your profile and any leaderboard entries are kept until you ask us to delete them — we don’t yet delete these automatically after a period of inactivity.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, at the email below. Clearing your browser’s site data for liveyatzy.com removes your local identity immediately and starts you fresh; that alone doesn’t remove anything already saved on our servers, so email us if you want that gone too. Declining or withdrawing analytics consent is always available from the cookie banner. If you’re in the EU/EEA, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Live Yatzy isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect data from anyone too young to consent to it under their local law. There’s no age check on the site — if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Where this is processed

We run on Vercel and Supabase, with analytics through Google — infrastructure that may process data outside your own country. Each of these providers publishes its own safeguards for that.

Changes to this policy

If this page changes, the “Last updated” date at the top will change with it. The current version always lives at this address.
